I've been told by many people I have a great palete and true sense of curiosity, adventure and passion for food. Join me on my culinary travels around this city, to find the best places to eat including the real hidden gems to explore on the food front that the Nation's capital has to offer!!! I am very honest in my opinion on food experiences and open to comments from the peanut gallery out there on what other people love as well. Please enjoy!!! I hope this information is helpful!

Indian Food!!!

So I now have a close friend who is of South Asian background...he's also a vegetarian...it's made me become much more into South Asian food spending time with him. In Ottawa nothing beats East India Company on Somerset for Indian cuisine...the buffet rules...18 bucks per person, a huge selection, all tasty and a lot of choices that are vegetarian. Items also ordered off the menu are special to this place (you can't find them in a lot of other Indian restaurants) including the cream cheese filled naan bread! The buffet is high quality-a difference to a lot of buffets that tend to be cheaper but risk food that is out for awhile, cold, mass produced etc. This buffet is made with LOVE as the special ingredient. Only complaint...they have the heaviest cutlery I've ever seen...so be careful when using it! My fav is the dessert section of the buffet actually to follow a fantastic meal, the timbit like dough balls soaking in syrup...addictive!

Johnny Farina's

I like it...I know it's kinda standard, but sometimes the usual is comforting and nice and always should be a staple in ones list of places to go out on a date or take friends and family. You don't want any surprises just classic tasty fare sometimes, and this is that kind of place! I love their pizza and I especially enjoy their salads, the strawberry with goat cheese is probably my favorite, you can never go wrong with deep fried cheese! I also enjoy the spinach salad with pine nuts, roasted pear and gorgonzola dressing...tasty. I am a major fan of the combination of sweet with savory, that is probably why if a salad has some fruit in it, I'm sold!!! They also have a small but great beer and wine list. You can't go wrong with this place for lunch or dinner. I'm a fan!
